Our daughter loves to play volleyball. Last year, she played on her school’s junior team. Her practices and games were scheduled right after school between 3:45pm – 6pm. I was still on maternity leave so it was easy to pick and drop her off at anytime.
This school year, she decided to try out for the senior team and she made it. When I saw the schedule, it didn’t look like something I could do because of my work schedule, same with her Dad. I just got back to work a few months ago from my maternity leave, so asking for permission to leave work early twice every week for two months wasn’t what I wanted to do (I hope my manager sees this to know I’m a dedicated employee🙈🙈🙈😅😅😅). It was also a new school for her and so, even though she had friends on the team, I didn’t know any of the parents well enough to ask for that kind of help.
I explained all of this and told her she may have to forfeit this time. She didn’t complain or whine but what she did was amazingly shocking to me.
First, she got her schedule for the 2-month tournament, stuck it on the fridge as a reminder for all concerned parties 😂😂😂.
Next, she found a way to talk about this tournament with me EVERYDAY.
Then she spoke to her Dad and asked if he could make adjustments in his work schedule to accommodate hers. He said he would try.
She interpreted that as a ‘yes’ and on her practice days, she would stay back after school, call her dad and remind him to pick her up at 5 😅😅😅.
She was obviously determined to participate in the tournament. When we saw that her mind was made up and she wasn’t ready to give in to our ‘excuses’, we had to find a way to make it work for her. Her dad decided to make the adjustments for the two months to accommodate her schedule.
My former boss always said, “if you make the move, the universe will support you.” Some things may look impossible but if you set your mind on it and you are determined, gradually you will see help and support coming your way. I don’t know how this works! I’m always blown away anytime it happens to me.
There is a verse in the Bible that says “faith without works is dead.”
You can’t sit and wish that your plans will become reality. You have to make a move that lines up with your faith.
If you want to grow in your career, be committed to your current position while you equip yourself for the growth by taking more courses, trainings and responsibilities as the case may be.
Do you want to get married? Clean up, get focused, put your life together, be visible😉😉😉. Nobody wants to marry nonsense!
Do you want a new home? Have an idea of the cost of the kind of home you want and start saving towards it.
God will always bless the works of your hands but if you don’t have any ‘works’; if your hands are empty, well………..🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Dear friend, take a step of faith and once you do that, you will find a reason to continue taking more steps until you get to the end.
❤️❤️❤️ 🙂🙂 this is me right now.. pushing my self with faith and looking at the big picture and God too!
