I AM BLESSED!

I am a miracle baby!

I am that child who was accosted by death as I made an attempt to step into this world.

It was an emergency and my mother needed an urgent C-section. The older doctor gave an instruction while he was on his way to the hospital. The younger doctor didn’t follow through; I guess he panicked as he saw my mom’s condition.

I’m not sure. I wasn’t there. No scratch that. I was there but I wasn’t really there. You know what I mean!

He did the opposite of what his boss had told him. He took the instrument – I don’t know what it is called – and he cut through. He cut my soft, fragile baby head and the blood flowed! My mom was also bleeding! The older doctor arrived in the midst of all that chaos. He did everything he could to save our lives. It would have been tragic for him if anything happened to my mother or me.

But I survived! Obviously! I still have the scar. It’s on the left side of my head. There is not one strand of hair on that spot! It is my constant reminder that my life is in God’s hands.

I am a loved child!

The 5th child and last girl of a closely-knitted family. I never lacked. If I had a need, it was met, sometimes without a request from me. Even in my adult years, my older siblings have refused to accept my current status – a full-grown woman, married with 4 children and running her own home! They still don’t get it and honestly, I don’t mind!

I am a wealthy lady!

When my son was about 5 years old, he saw my 16-digit credit card number and he asked,

“Mom, is that how much you have in your account?”

I laughed so hard! You see, my wealth isn’t just the balance in my bank account. If it were, then it means I am far from being wealthy. No, my wealth also includes the people in my life; my friends, my family – nuclear and extended. I have people who will show up to celebrate, laugh, cry, eat, play and just be silly with me! Oh, I have them! I don’t need to wait for too long for them to show up! They are all around me – just a phone-call or a text away!

I am a blessed woman!

When I break into a dance or I do the belly laugh, know that it is the evidence of the presence of the Almighty in my life.

Through the storms, He has given me His peace; the kind that is beyond human understanding.

He has filled my heart with His joy. He has given me hope, strength, knowledge and wisdom. He has put me in a bit of Himself. He has given me gifts, talents and abilities. He has made me beautiful!

Today, I celebrate my life.

I have escaped death, misery, pain, hopelessness and depression!

I have seen God’s goodness and favour at work in my life!

As I reflect, I can say this boldly,

My life isn’t perfect, but it is beautiful!

Happy birthday EudorahsGirl!

The Hand that made you is truly Divine!
